2006... New Years Reolutions..

New Years Reolution..
Nimrita Sath Benti..

Benti suggestion of new years resolution for Sikhs all around the world.

1. Naam Simran.
Meditate on his naam through simran, keertan, amrit vela. Take one step at a time try to build up your amrit vela.

Simran is so important it shall bring us peace and sort out everything. Do not worry about anything leave it to vahiguroo do simran. Get up at amrit vela and do simran of gurmantar vahigurooo and jaap of mool mantar. You can repeat the first Saloak of Sukhmani Sahib:

aad gur-ay namah.
jugaad gur-ay namah.
satgur-ay namah.
saree gurdayv-ay namah. 1

Read this article on how to do Simran on Gupt Wannabe Naam Abhiyaasee blog.

2. Let us all do khoj of gurbani.
Let us all look at gurbani and try to begin and understand what Guroo Sahib is saying from here we will see the pyar (love) ignite with in out hearts. Gurbani is all we have as Sikhs

Read hukamnama of Sri Harimandir Sahib from internet and listen to it at same time. Get a ramdom shabad of
www.sikhitothemax.com or listen to a shabad and do a search. Try and learn more gurbani do more nitnem.

3. Stop Kesh Katal.

Those who do kesh katal/kesh di bedbi take the new year to make a change. Make a fresh start do ardaas for Guru Sahibs kirpa and to keep kesh. Cut, pluk ,shave, colour nimrita benti to take a difference and stop. Keep Guroo Sahibs moore and his sampooran roop and if you keep your kesh make a pran to tie dastar/keski. This besnti is to my Veerjis and Penjees.

4. Learn and Teach a Shabad.

Learn and teach at least one other person two shabads this year of by heart. With or with out an instrument. You do not need an instrument to sing gurbani. You need pyar, nimrita and determination to meet vahiguroo to sign a shabad which will touch the hearts of all around you.

Teaching and or learning you will have a profane effect on you life and that of the other person. They will not forget the seva you are doing and will remember you in years to come even If they start to drift away from Sikhi one day Guru Sahib will do kirpa on them and you pyar and nimrita may change there lives for the better now or in years to come. Is it not worth changing not only your life but that of someone around you?

5. Seva
Do seva where you live, at Gurdwara, for you neighbour, at high school, University. Any where and everywhere for anyone and everyone like Bhai Ghanayia Ji, see Akaal Purkh inside everyone and do seva for them help them. Do not do seva for reward here or after do it for pyar with pyar and nimrita for Akaal purkh. Put aside your jathabandis and differences of rehit and come together as one Khalsa Panth owing allegiance to only Sri Akal Takath Sahib and one Guroo, Guroo Granth.

Please pass this on other forums, emails, etc, and let us all make a difference in 2006 let is kep these promisies to go vahiguroo.

Our mind often asks one question after another. One question is why did Guroo Nanak Sahib Mahraj come to this earth. Guroo Sahib gave us Gurmantar of VahiGuroo which is the ultimate jap from Akal him self. We do not realise how great this one word is. this word which will bring us out of darkness of Kuljug and saying it once changes out mood from sad to happy in anand. Bhai Sahib Jeevan Singh

BUMPING INTO A MONA

One evening, we had just finished doing keertan at Singh Sabha Slough. A singh phoned and said he had booked kirtan in Hounslow, and we should come straight away. Bhai sahib said lets go quickly, we should always be on time.

As Bhai sahib, his singhni, myself and another youth walked downstairs into the joorian section. A mona was walking in the Gurdwara. He bumped into Bhai sahib. He said sorry, and looked in Bhai sahib face. Those who knows bhai sahib know how enigmatic his smile his, and how his face always shines.

Bhai sahib said to him, I came here to especially see you, I have something for you. Bhai sahib took off his dastaar and handed it to him. The mona could not believe it was said to him with so much pyaar and humilty.

From that day that mona kept his kesh and came into sikhi...

BHAI SAHIB AT THE WORLD SIKH SAMELLEN
When Proffessor Manjit Singh was the Jathedar of the Akal thakht Sahib. He called a World Sikh Smellan, which is basically a Sarbat khalsa. Every Gurdwara, sikh group, jatha around the world were invited and days of Panthik veechaar were done at Siri Akal thakht sahib. All Panthik matters were discussed. Thousands of Sikhs gathered, including all the luminories of the Panth.

Many people like political leaders, or jathedars were of self interest and wanted special treatment but everyone was treated equally. No dignatory was treated any more special. However for some reason the Panj Jathedars of the Thakhts sat on a sofa and the complex where this was happening. I saw a picture of it in The Spokesman.

As days of the veechars happened everyone gave their views on many subjects from rehit to khalistan. Proffesor Manjit singh wanted to get this vision of the World Sikh Council passed.

As the A-Z of Sikh leadership and intelligensia sat in the sangat on the floor. A simple gursikh walked into the complex building. He walked in humbly and mattha tekked, and went to sit in the sangat. However straight away, the Jathedars got up and ran over to him, and said to him, he must sit on the sofa. Totally embarrased he refused. But they brought him over and sat him on the sofa. He sat uncomfortably because he is not one for that kind of attention.

That Gursikh was Bhai Jeevan Singh. The picture came in the Spokesman. It goes to show how highly Bhai sahib, his jeevan, his seva, and his nimarta is respected in the Panth, that only he was given such attention.

It is the virtues of Guru such a pure humility that pull peoples hearts.

BHAI SAHIB MAKES PEOPLE FEEL SO SPECIAL

Pyare jio, I attended Toronto smagam some years back. A few other young Gursikhs from Uk also attended.

Bhai sahib was at the Smagam, with many other special Gursikhs, all singing Guru jis bani, in Guru jis supreme presence. It was such a wonderful experience.

The day that we arrived, in the evening, we attended the keertan. After the keertan, the sangat were just mingling with each other. Bhai sahib as always was the center of attention. People wanted to talk to him and take pictures with him.

Suddenly Bhai sahib came up to me and said fateh, and hugged me with his enigmatic smile. Another Singh had a camera, and said Bhai sahib, I want to take your picture. Bhai sahib said take my picture with these Gursikhs.

On the opposite side of the room was a young Gursikh that I know. He is quite humble. He rarely comes to the foreground. In his mind, he told me later, he thought, I wish I could have my picture taken with Bhai sahib. I wish he would notice me aswell.

Bhai sahib straight away left us and walked swiftly over to him, and said to the photographer Singh. "Take one more with this Gursikh aswell". The youth could not believe it, Bhai Sahib smiled at him.

The youth said afterwards, as soon as i thought that, he came. Bhai Sahib knew exactly what I was thinking. He just smiled at me, and I know he knew what I was thinking then aswell.

The Gursikh was over whelmed after wards when speaking to us, and almost came to tears as he explained his emotions.

This is the thing about a jeevan wale Gursikh. It is the small things, that they use to bring so much joy to people in their lives.
